  • Launch of NSW Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards
  • March 05, 2015

Members of Marine Rescue NSW and their emergency services colleagues joined His Excellency Governor of NSW General David Hurley AC DSC and Mrs Hurley for the launch of the new Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards at Government House in Sydney today.

Marine Rescue Cottage Point members Karen Mutch, Michael Kielty and Marcus Collignon and Marine Rescue Port Jackson members Esther Krizmancic, Greg Warton, Josephine Russo and Mark Ottewill attended, along with MRNSW Regional Training Manager Central Jane Shirriff, Greater Sydney Regional Controller Chris Gillett and Member Services Manager Mat Smith.

The awards are an initiative of the Rotary Clubs of NSW to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of emergency services personnel across the state in line with the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”.

The Governor, who is the Awards Patron, paid tribute to the members of the emergency services for their commitment to serving their community. “These men and women say ‘beyond my normal day-to-day responsibilities, this is an important thing for me to do’,” he said.

The Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards are open to personnel from MRNSW, the NSW Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, the State Emergency Service, Ambulance Service NSW and NSW Volunteer Rescue Association.

Volunteers and salaried officers can be nominated by colleagues or members of the community. Finalists from each service will be announced ahead of a Gala Awards Ceremony in August.

Nominations close on May 6. For nomination forms and more information, visit www.RotaryESCawards.org.au
